This publication is to encourage the English-speaking readers to learn about the life of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) during its persecution by the Soviet regime. It is based on the documents collected by the Institute of Church History of the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv, Ukraine. Among them are: memoirs and interviews of witnesses, documents from the state archives, photographs from private collections. They reflect the life stories of Greek Catholic priests, members of religious congregations and laity from 1946 till 1989 when the UGCC was officially liquidated and outlawed in the USSR.
