The Funeral Divine Liturgy and Commendation of Father John Alexis Salter will be served on Wednesday 12th August 2026 at 11 am at the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Cathedral of the Holy Family, Duke Street, W1K 5BQ, nearest tube stations, Bond Street (Jubilee, Central and Elizabeth lines) and Victoria (Victoria, Central,and Bakerloo lines).
The Divine Liturgy will be served by the Rt Revd Mitred Archpriest Mykola Matwijiwskij, Vicar General of the Eparchy of the Holy Family of London for the Ukrainian Greek Catholics. The preacher will be Fr Mark Woodruff, Chairman of the Society of St John Chrysostom.
After Fr John’s commendation from the Cathedral (for his cremation and interment at a later date in his native Shropshire), the Salter family cordially invites his many friends and associates of many years of priestly service in the cause of peace and Christian reconcilition to join them for a reception in the Cathedral Hall. Father John’s body will be received into the Cathedral on the preceding afternoon, 11th August, at 4-30 pm, after which the Parastas Vigil will be celebrated..
Catholic clergy wishing to assist at the Funeral Divine Liturgy are invited to bring their white vestments proper to the rite of their Church, and as usual to inform the Cathedral beforehand at johnchrystom@btinternet.com. Ecumenical clergy guests are invited to vest in their accustomed liturgical attire. Please also notify the Cathedral at the same email address. A room will be set aside for all the clergy to vest. All are most welcome.
