The Society has published its Byzantine liturgical calendar for November 2023.
The menologion, as it is known in Greek, follows the Gregorian calendar for both the solar and lunar year and features feasts and rankings as used by the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, as well as readings and fasting guidelines according to the traditional rule.
In addition, certain saints of the British Isles from the Byzantine calendar have been highlighted, such as Martyr Edmund, King of England, on 20 November.
The rankings of the calendar follow the new menologion published by Kyïv on 17 October 2023. It is worth noting that some of the feasts are assigned a different ranking than previously. For example the feast of our patron, Saint John Chrysostom, is celebrated as a polyeleos-rank feast rather than vigil-rank.
Work on the full liturgical calendar for AD 2023–24/AM 7532, which runs from 1 September to 31 August, continues apace and we expect to have the full calendar published by the end of 2023. You can find the October and September calendars here. ✠
